POWR2 Supports the 2024 Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run
POWR2 is thrilled to have supported the 2024 Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run, an inspiring event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics Connecticut. This annual tradition unites law enforcement officers, community members, and local organizations in their shared commitment to supporting athletes.
This year, POWR2 proudly sponsored the Bethel, CT, portion of the run. The POWR2 team joined the community in cheering on the Bethel Police Department as they carried the torch through town, demonstrating their dedication to this important cause. It was a powerful moment of unity and encouragement as runners pushed forward, carrying not just a torch but a message of inclusion, hope, and opportunity.
“There are 97,000 members of law enforcement throughout the United States and Canada to support this event. In Bethel, Connecticut, the Fire Department being in close partnership with our local law enforcement has decided annually to support the torch run annually by raising this very large flag,” explained Bill McAllister, Assistant Chief from Bethel Volunteer Fire Department. “We will salute them as they go by, we know what a tremendous commitment this is.”
The leg of the run began in New Milford, Connecticut, continuing into Brookfield and Danbury. The Danbury Police Department passed the torch, “The Flame of Hope”, to the Bethel officers, who handed the torch off to officers from the Newtown Police Department to continue the run into neighboring towns before finishing in Bethany.
Since 1986, the Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) has raised funds and awareness every June leading up to the Special Olympics Summer Games.
POWR2 is honored to contribute to such a meaningful initiative and looks forward to continuing its support for causes that make a difference. Congratulations to all the runners, organizers, and supporters who made this year’s Torch Run a success.
